Why Zamalek works for first-time visitors
Zamalek sits on Gezira Island in the Nile. Compared with Downtown it is calmer and more walkable. Compared with Giza it puts you in the middle of cafés, restaurants, and evening life instead of next to a one-day sightseeing zone.
